One of the most common safety issues associated with commercial work trucks is overloading. When evaluating vehicle weight it is critical to understand that a vehicle can be overloaded in multiple ways to include individual axle loadings, gross vehicle weight, and gross combination weight.
On June 10, NAFA's Nation's Capital Chapter brings the highly-attended Institute & Expo session
Does This Make Me Look Heavy? Evaluating Vehicle Weight to the Newington Maintenance Facility of Fairfax Water (8001 Cinder Bed Road, Lorton, VA).
This important educational meeting runs 10:00 am - 12:00 pm and will familiarize fleet managers with the process of first determining the maximum payload capacity of a work truck and the process of making a weight distribution analysis to insure that the end product is safe.
What You Will Learn:
• Identification of all of the vehicle weight factors associated with providing a safe vehicle
• How to determine maximum payload capacity
• How to make a weight distribution analysis
• Understanding the potential impact of cargo placement and declining loads on axle loadings
Leading this presentation will be
Robert Johnson, Director of Fleet Relations for NTEA, The Association for the Work Truck Industry, based in Jefferson, MD. Johnson was a recent recipient of NAFA's Honorary Membership Award at the 2015 I&E in Orlando, Florida.
