The summer is starting off sizzling for several members of NAFA’s Board of Trustees.
Claude Masters, CAFM
®, and Sheryl Grossman retired from their respective jobs after decades of service, while Joe LaRosa inked an agreement to provide consulting services for Mercury Associates.
Masters, whose two-year term as NAFA President ended just this past April, retired from Florida Power & Light on July 3. Prior to joining FPL, he worked for Houston Lighting & Power/Center Point Energy. Claude has been recognized by the National Biodiesel Board and the U.S. Department of Energy as a user expert and has served as a member of the Edison Electric Institute Electrification Committee. Claude was instrumental in the expansion of FPL’s Electrification Fleet in both in passenger and large trucks. In addition, his contributions to the research, development and construction of FPL’s emergency Mobile Command Center vehicle significantly impacted its recent deployment. Claude has returned to his home state of Texas where his immediate family resides.
Grossman, a NAFA Vice President, retired June 30 after more than 40 years with General Electric. She has been Fleet Operations Manager for GE Healthcare since 1984. In April, Sheryl was recognized by NAFA for her outstanding service to the Wisconsin Chapter. For many in fleet, it is nearly impossible to mention Sheryl Grossman without thinking of NAFA, and vice versa. For nearly a quarter century, Sheryl has been deeply involved in NAFA, from grassroots level work at the Wisconsin Chapter to serving on the national Board of Trustees. Her passion for NAFA is surpassed only by her passion for her family and friends. Sheryl intends to spend more time with her sons, grandsons, and immediate family.
LaRosa, NAFA’s International Vice President, agreed to a contract with Mercury Associates, a leading fleet management consulting firm, in early June. LaRosa was Director of Global Fleet Operations for Merck.
Masters, Grossman, and LaRosa have indicated they will be pursuing employment opportunities that will enable them to remain NAFA Members and, therefore, eligible to remain on the NAFA Board of Trustees. NAFA’s "Volunteer Leader Eligibility Policy" states that any person who loses eligibility to serve NAFA in an elected or appointed position has 90 days to regain such eligibility. Should eligibility to serve not be regained within 90 days, NAFA President Ruth Alfson, CAFM
® will appoint replacements with Board approval.
