It can be very easy to get swept up in the fun and spectacle of the holiday season, and that's a great thing. It's also great to be reminded of those who could really use the help and support, both for now and all year 'round.
NAFA's NorCal-Northern Nevada Chapter held their Holiday Luncheon at Ruth Chris Steakhouse in Walnut Creek, CA on December 3. Fifty-three members and guests attended in support of the Bay Area Crisis Nursery with a toy drive and a cash contribution.
Sister Ann Weltz, Executive Director of the Bay Area Crisis Nursery, spoke of the help and assistance they have provided to Bay Area families which is especially difficult during the holidays. They have an operating budget of about $1M annually and never know how they are doing until the year ends. "Because of donations and support of organizations like NAFA NorCal-Northern Nevada and private donors they have been operating for more than 30 years," said Chapter Chair Dan McCann, "and (they) have been associated with NAFA as long as anyone at the current meeting could remember." This ongoing relationship is something that the Chapter is justifiably proud of.
The Chapter is seeking nominations for one officer position of Vice Chair for the upcoming year and will be publishing the full calendar of 2016 events in January. For additional information see the Chapter's website:
