British Columbia Signs Pledge For Zero-emission Vehicles By 2050
British Columbia signed a global pledge which aims to have all new zero-emission vehicles on highways and city streets by 2050. B.C. is now the 14th member of the International Zero-Emission Vehicle Alliance as the Minister of Environment, Mary Polak, signed an agreement in Paris during the United Nations Climate Change talks in December, 2015.
According to B.C.’s Energy Minister, Bill Bennett, the province has the largest public-charging network for electric vehicles across the country and there are roughly 2,000 electric cars in B.C.
"How do you get more people doing it? You have to show them that they can save a lot of money on not having to buy fossil fuels and you have to make it easy for them to charge their vehicle," declared Bennett.
In sum, British Columbia’s shift towards electric and zero-emission vehicles could have a potential impact on fleet professionals.
