Minister Bains Promotes Canada’s Innovative Automotive Industry at the North American International Auto Show
On January 12, the Honorable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science, and Economic Development, met with Canada’s automotive leaders at the 2016 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, MI. At the event he seized the occasion to appreciate Canada’s cutting-edge products, technological innovations and world-class services that are having a significant impact on the industry.
"It's great to see first-hand the innovative and clean technologies that are being developed by the Canadian automotive sector. It is also great to see the diversity of Canadian suppliers' technologies that are being used in vehicles built in North America," Bains stated. "These advancements are going to shape the future of the industry, while helping to build Canada's Innovation Agenda and ensuring a sustainable and profitable future for Canadian automotive makers."
The Minister also joined his provincial counterparts Jacques Daoust, Quebec’s Minister of the Economy, Innovation, and Exports and Brad Duguid, Ontario’s Minister of Economic Development, Employment and Infrastructure, in attending the annual meeting of the Canadian Automotive Partnership Council (CAPC) where he had the pleasure of addressing the Council.
In sum, Minister Bains’ important visit to Detroit has allowed him to have a first look at the future of Canada’s automotive industry which represents a pillar of the country’s manufacturing sector.
