NAFA's Pacific Southwest Chapter had a terrific opportunity to explore Mercedes-Benz's Vehicle Prep Center during the July 13 chapter meeting.
The facility, located in Long Beach, CA, allowed attendees the opportunity to participate in several unique modules during this meeting. These included an overview vehicle safety and hybrid technology and a fantastic "Ride and Drive" program. It was indeed interesting to get a peak under the hood to see the latest technology in new plug-in hybrids.
NAFA CEO Phillip E. Russo, CAE, was on hand to speak about many of the upcoming NAFA initiatives, including the proposed changes to NAFA's membership bylaws and structure. The vote on this significant change will occur sometime in August, and Phil encouraged members to vote "yes" in favor of expanding NAFA's membership definitions and inclusion. "Mercedes Benz used NAFA's Pacific Southwest Chapter Meeting to announce changes to their E-Class vehicles," Phil added. "It's a testament to NAFA that they launched this message at our event."
Later in the day, attendees were also able to view firsthand how Mercedes Benz distribution moves and prepares vehicles at the Vehicle Prep Center in the historic McDonnell Douglas building.
With all this and a terrific opportunity to network among peers and fellow chapter members, it was a memorable event and certainly worth the time. Chapter meetings, such as this, truly bring value to NAFA membership.
