In Memoriam: Mark Kostos (1961-2016)

NAFA Member Mark Kostos, passed away on Sunday, March 20. He was Fleet Shop Supervisor for Charleston County (S.C.) for 21 years and vice president of the Southeast Governmental Fleet Management Association (SGFMA). Mark held an ASE Master Technician Certification.
In 2013, The National Institute of Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certified Charleston County’s fleet operations as an "ASE Blue Seal of Excellence Certified Shop." Mark was integral in efforts to encourage Charleston County's fleet operations staff to be certified. He was particularly proud of how this effort progressed. "We have more than 80 percent of our technicians ASE certified covering a total of 25 designated certification areas with all 16 required certification areas covered," Mark said that year in an interview with Moultrie News. "Some of our technicians have multiple certifications in each area."
Mark was an adoring father and loving husband who always put family first. He loved playing the bass guitar and spent many hours writing and creating his own music. Surviving in addition to his wife Tamara are: one son: Mark Kostos; one daughter: Devon Kostos; two stepdaughters: Jessica Lee & Megan Lee; one brother: George J. Kostos (Rosemary) of Racine, WI; one sister: Patricia Kelly (Homer Daehn) of Baraboo, WI; one niece: Pamela (Stephen); nephews: Vince (Karen), Jeff (Mary), Brian (Teri Dee) and Kevin (Rebecca); 10 grandnieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.
