West Virginia Adds $200 Annual Fee For Electric Vehicles, $100 For PHEVs

West Virginia has decided (Senate Bill 1006) to raise some additional funds through the introduction of annual fees for new alternative fuel vehicles.
From July 1, 2017 additional annual registration fees will be as follows:

- Battery electric vehicle (BEV): The annual registration fee for a vehicle operating exclusively on electricity is $200.
- Plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV): The annual registration fee for a vehicle operating on a combination of electricity and petrochemical fuels is $100.
- Fuel cell vehicle (FCV): The annual registration fee for a vehicle fueled with hydrogen or natural gas is $200.
