Mazda Close to Cracking First Compression Ignition System

According to a report by Autoweek, Mazda is the first auto manufacturer to have engineered a homogeneous charge compression ignition (HCCI) gasoline engine. This technology achieves the internal combustion engine without the need for spark plugs. It will also allow Mazda's vehicles to get the fuel mileage of a diesel engine while releasing fewer emissions into the environment.
