At the annual holiday meeting for NAFA's Philadelphia Chapter, Scott Lauer, who recently retired from Merck after 30 years of service, was honored. Lauer served in Merck's global fleet operations group. He has also been an active member of the Philadelphia Chapter, serving as Chapter Treasurer for two years.

Lauer has been an active member of the Philadelphia Chapter board throughout his time in fleet.

At Merck, Lauer was responsible for over 6,000 vehicles in the U.S., Canada. Puerto Rico and the Caribbean. During this time his responsibilities included fleet safety, purchases, leases, and contract oversight for all aspects of vehicle program management, as well as administration of fleet policy. He implemented a total-cost-of-ownership model to reduce expenses, improve fuel economy, and ensure sustainability.

Lauer has been twice-nominated for NAFA's Regular Member of the Year. He was recognized with two Fleet Performance Awards and the Fleet Visionary Award in 2016. He was instrumental in the success of NAFA’s Pharmaceutical Fleet Workshop at the annual Institute & Expo. He led the effort to collect an annual survey from pharmaceutical fleet managers and used the results to generate a lively discussion among his peers.
