In Memoriam: Tom Snyder, CFM/CAFM® (1930-2018)

Longtime NAFA Member Gordon T. (Tom) Snyder, 87, passed away on July 5, 2018, at Hospice and Community Care in Lancaster, Pa.
Snyder was born on November 13, 1930, in Andreas, Pa. He was a 1948 graduate of Lehighton High School and worked in the telephone industry for 33 years. He was CFM-certified. The current CAFM (Certified Automotive Fleet Manager[CAFM®] program has its roots in the Certified Fleet Manager [CFM] program developed as a partnership between NAFA, working through the NAFA Foundation and the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania in 1984.)
Snyder retired from Contel (Continental Telephone Company) in 1991.
Preferring friends and colleagues call him "Tom," Snyder was a charter member of the Mahoning Valley Fire Department, the Lehigh Consistory Scottish Rite, and was a 60-year member of the Free and Accepted Masons Lodge No. 621, Lehighton, Pa.
Additionally, he served as a Deacon of St. John's UCC, Mahoning Valley, Pa., and an Elder of Derry Presbyterian Church in Hershey, Pa., prior to becoming a member of Ben Salem UCC Church, Lehighton, Pa. He loved music and played trombone in the Ben Salem Band.
