New Automotive Facility Opens In Ontario

The Ontario Government has officially announced the opening of an innovative, modern facility, which will be used to create and test the vehicles of the future.

The 16,300 square-meter facility, dubbed the General Motors of Canada Automotive Center of Excellence (ACE), is housed at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology in Oshawa.  Beyond various test rooms and research space, the center includes a five-storey climatic wind tunnel for extreme weather condition testing, a pothole simulator, and an integrated research and training facility, among others.

In addition to the standard automotive testing, the ACE will also help facilitate the testing of cleaner and alternative fuels, as well as hybrid and electric vehicles.

The Ontario Government remains committed to strengthening Ontario's automotive sector, which supports 400,000 jobs in the province.
