Possible Future Funding Changes For The California HVIP

Dear HVIP Stakeholder:

I'm writing today to provide very important information on possible future funding changes for the California Hybrid Truck and Bus Voucher Incentive Project (HVIP) – and encourage you to make your opinions and wishes known this month.

Last year the HVIP sold out of $19 million in voucher funding in the first six months.  This year voucher requests have to date been slower.  In comparison, the Clean Vehicle Rebate Project (CVRP--provides incentives to plug-in electric cars) has now sold out of $11 million in rebate funding.

The Air Resources Board will be reviewing next year's (2012/2013) proposed budgets for vehicle incentive projects at the next ARB board meeting on July 21.  The board will consider whether next year's proposed $11 million budget for HVIP and $15 million for CVRP are an appropriate balance of expected demand for each of these projects.

Your support for HVIP can be demonstrated in a couple of ways:
We know stakeholders strongly appreciate the HVIP vouchers.  If you have a strong view on this subject, we encourage you to attend the ARB board meeting July 21 and share it.

Please feel free to contact me directly with any further questions.
