The Ontario Government has announced additional support to help develop the future generation of electric vehicle technologies. Announced on August 29th in Brampton, Ontario, Premier Dalton McGuinty highlighted the government’s support to Magna International and Magna E-Car.
The development of these clean vehicle technologies will create 728 jobs, all the while keeping another 1337 jobs at Magna’s Aurora, Brampton, Concord, and St. Thomas plants.
Ontario’s investment and contribution will help guide research and development into electric vehicle technologies through a number of new projects, including:
- Electric car concept development;
- Parts for hybrid electric/battery electric vehicles;
- Advanced lightweight metallic components;
- An alternate energy project; and,
- Advanced bio-based composite materials to reduce vehicle weight and improve fuel efficiency.
The Ontario Government is proud to partner on this initiative, and remains committed to getting more electric vehicles on Ontario’s roads.
