Fully Electric Car Makes First Appearance in Canada

Nissan Canada has made history, through the delivery of the first all-electric Nissan LEAF to a Canadian consumer.  Debuting on September 23, an Ottawa, Ontario resident received the keys to his new vehicle from Allen Childs, President of Nissan Canada at a local event hosted by Hunt Club Nissan.

Childs highlighted that this historic event represents the freedom to choose a car that has no tailpipe, produces no emissions, and will never have to stop at a gas station.  The Ottawa resident and his family started to explore alternatives to gas-powered vehicles last year.  He says the Nissan LEAF was one of the best, being all-electric, quiet, and a smooth drive while also featuring ample cargo space and high-tech qualities.

Ottawa is the current stop of Nissan’s Drive Electric Tour (DET), a unique consumer driving experience.  The DET provides prospective Nissan LEAF owners, and others who are interested about all-electric mobility, with the chance to learn about the vehicle, its technology and exclusive features, and take it for a test drive.

The Nissan LEAF is the world’s first, mass-marketed, all-electric car.  Model Year 2011 Nissan LEAFs will continue to be delivered in the coming weeks across Canada.  Additionally, in late October, Nissan Canada will open its online reservation process for its allocation of Model Year 2012 Nissan LEAFs.
