Operational Fleet Management Systems In North America To Reach 5.9 Million Units In 2016

The number of fleet management systems operational in North America is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 15.9 percent from 2.8 million units in 2011 to 5.9 million units by 2016, says a new report.

According to Berg Insight's Fleet Management in the Americas - Second Edition report, North America has nearly 12.7 million GVW 3-8 commercial vehicles operational and about 25.5 million GVW 1-2 vehicles being owned by enterprises or public entities.

While in Latin America, the number of fleet management systems is anticipated to rise at a CAGR of 16.6 percent and reach 2.8 million units in 2016 from 1.3 million units in 2011, with 21.9 million of commercial vehicles in operation.

The report revealed that the penetration rate in the total population of non-privately owned commercial vehicles in North America is anticipated to increase 16.4 percent in 2016, while in Latin America penetration rate is expected to rise to 12.8 percent in 2016.

The Americas' market leaders on the fleet management market include Qualcomm Enterprise Services and Trimble in addition to FleetMatics, Networkfleet, NexTraq, and Wireless Matrix. Major Brazilian fleet management providers include Autotrac, Zatix, and OnixSat, while in Latin America Copiloto Satelital and Grupo UDA, Satrack, as well as Tastets System and Wisetrack lead as providers.
