Request For September 2012 Vehicle Problem Reports

Dear Public Safety Colleagues and Associates,

NAFA’s Public Safety Group Committee collects problem reports from agencies on a monthly basis and presents them to the manufacturers well in advance of NAFA’s Institute & Expo (I&E) for solutions.

We give the manufacturers a running list during the course of the year to have as much time as possible to come up with explanations or provide information to resolve issues during the Public Safety Group Workshop at I&E. The PSG workshop is an important part of NAFA’s Institute & Expo (I&E) where maintenance problems concerning police vehicles are shared and discussed.

By sending NAFA report forms monthly, or as a problem occurs, more issues can be covered at the next Institute & Expo. In all fairness to the manufacturers and the fleet managers that attend the workshop, many vehicle issues cannot be answered on the spot. Extra time needs to be provided for the manufacturers to review your concerns and research solutions prior to the I&E.

Vehicle Problem Reports can be submitted to NAFA at any time via the internet. Please use the links below to submit your most current Vehicle Problem Reports to NAFA and please include the Vehicle Identification Number.

Ford: http://www.nafa.org/reportford

General Motors: http://www.nafa.org/reportgm

Keep in mind, if your fleet is having serious maintenance concerns, don’t wait for NAFA’s monthly e-blast to rectify those problems. Please feel free to call the manufacturers’ fleet 800 numbers listed below for an immediate answer (and please remember to still send NAFA your problem report form for discussion at I&E):
NAFA’s Public Safety Group Committee hopes this reporting format will provide a positive exchange of information between the automobile manufacturers and our PSG membership.

Thank you for your input, time, and consideration.

Sincerely,
George Schwarz, Chair, Public Safety Group Committee
Robert Martinez, Vice Chair, Public Safety Group Committee
