I&E will have four dynamic keynote presentations for each morning of the conference. Topics the keynotes cover will be pertinent to fleet managers and their continuing education. This will provide strong kickoff points for each day!
Tuesday, April 23 - Motivational Speaker Stuart Ellis-Myers: Stuart Ellis-Myers is a dramatic model of self-inspiration and determination. When he speaks of improving lives, he speaks from personal experience. Since the age of nine he has "suffered" from Tourette’s Syndrome. Despite this handicap, Stuart has become an internationally known and respected speaker on communication leadership, sales, and customer relationship management practices that yield measurable results. He might even look familiar as he has appeared in twelve television commercials.
How did he do it? Stuart overcame his hardship by studying the universal laws of the mind. He learned how to test and immediately apply usable life principles to his own growth and also how to share them with others for their benefit. He shares with his listeners the practical techniques that have helped him turn his own life into a success story and looks forward to helping his audience members achieve their own dreams.
Wednesday, April 24 - OEM Fireside Chat: Automaker representatives Jim Sassorossi from Chrysler, John Ruppert from Ford, and Ed Peper from GM will be giving a panel discussion about their companies’ vision for the future of the auto industry and the role the fleet segment plays. They will be covering some of the major themes of this year’s program: cost-cutting, safety, and technology. The session is being moderated by incoming NAFA President, Claude Masters, CAFM.
Thursday, April 25 - Derek Daly, former racing driver from Ireland and CEO and founder of MotorVation: Former race car driver and CEO of MotorVation Derek Daly has had a professional racing career spanning seventeen years, winning the 1977 British Formula Three Championship, and participating in 64 World Championship Formula One Grands Prix. He scored a total of 15 championship points. He also participated in several non-Championship Formula One races.
Today Daly is CEO/Founder of the professional services company MotorVation which specializes in team-building systems. The company uses racing as a metaphor, specifically with the aspect that rather than having the spotlight solely trained on the individual racecar driver, the sport relies on team effort: the driver of course, but also the mechanics, pit crew, the administrative figures that facilitate the business partnerships and sponsorships all play crucial parts in getting the car onto the track.
The company’s practices rest on the belief that, to enable people to change their belief systems and subsequently their behavior, it is imperative to emotionally engage them. MotorVation believes the business of motor sports uniquely parallels the business of corporate America and uses that belief in their team-building tools and solutions.
Friday, April 26 - Janet Froetscher, President & CEO, National Safety Council: Under Janet Froetscher’s leadership, the National Safety Council has focused on key safety initiatives, grounded in science, to advance its mission of preventing injuries and deaths at work, in homes and communities, and on the roads. These initiatives include the creation of the Journey to Safety Excellence approach to workplace safety that promotes continuous improvement of leadership and performance measurement. Froetscher has also led the Council in taking a leadership role on the issues of distracted and teen driving.
The National Safety Council was the first organization to call for a national ban on cell phone use while driving; has driven 34 states to pass texting laws; and has encouraged corporations to adopt corporate cell phone bans. The Council has also been successful in advocating for better graduated driving license requirements for teen drivers and in promoting education for parents of teen drivers.
