Club NAFA Honors Long-Standing Association Members
Great associations depend on the hard work and voluntarism of their membership. Far too often, members who were instrumental to an association’s early success are forgotten in their later years. NAFA Fleet Management Association is determined to not only remember its history, but to recognize and promote the Members who helped create that history. To accomplish this goal, the Association has created Club NAFA - a place for those who have been members of NAFA for 30 years or more. NAFA is honored to have over 60 members currently in Club NAFA.
"Club NAFA members have played important roles in the history of the association and in the history of fleet management as well," said NAFA’s Executive Director Phillip E. Russo, CAE. "It’s important for NAFA to not only recognize these folks, but to begin utilizing the vast wealth of knowledge and experience that these long-standing members hold."
In the past few months, NAFA has been preparing for the introduction of Club NAFA in various ways. The Association’s magazine, FLEETSolutions, ran feature articles on George Wilson and former President Al Cavalli (both of whom have been with NAFA since its very beginning) in recent issues and additional profiles are forthcoming. A web page has been created at http://www.nafa.org/clubnafa to list Club NAFA members and the years in which they joined the Association. In addition, a special Club NAFA brochure was presented at NAFA’s annual conference and new membership newsletters and e-newsletters will highlight the program as well.
"These steps are all part of our plan to put the spotlight on the membership - the heart and soul of the Association," said Russo. "NAFA is all about people. Very special people that make this a very special association, like no other out there. NAFA appreciates the support of each and every member and is working hard to put the spotlight back on the membership, where it belongs."
Club NAFA was officially introduced on April 26, 2013 during NAFA’s Institute & Expo in Atlantic City, NJ. Mike McDonald, Chair of NAFA’s Membership Committee, announced the program during the Chapter Recognition Luncheon. During the introduction, McDonald read the names of former Presidents and Distinguished Award winners from the fifties to the early eighties that are part of Club NAFA, and several Club NAFA members in attendance were recognized by the audience.
