Highway 401 Sees Introduction of Electric Car Charging Stations

Sun Country Highway has installed 20 new electric vehicle charging stations along Highway 401, between Detroit and Montreal.

The goal behind this recent installation is two-fold: to create more interest in electric vehicles; and, to address the existing impression that electric vehicles are not ideal for long-distance trips.

Electric vehicles can be charged up in a few hours with these stations. Within an hour, a motorist can get approximately 100 kilometers.

A recent advocate for electric vehicles tested out a long-distance journey with a three-week test drive of a Tesla limited-edition electric sports car. The route began in Vancouver and then made its way to Seattle, then through Canada to Prince Edward Island, and then back to the starting point.
