Photo Gallery: Ontario Chapter Takes The Eco-Driving Challenge
On December 2, NAFA's Ontario Chapter hosted an Adverse Conditions and Eco-Driving seminar at the Garry W. Morden Centre, Mississauga, ON. The event was kicked off by Ontario Chapter Chair Michael Cole who provided an update on current NAFA activities and the 2014 I&E, which will be held in Minneapolis, MN on April 8-11.
NAFA Ontario, in partnership with DriveWise Canada, coordinated the seminar which was designed to be informative and interactive while requiring participation from the attendees.
Steve Collins from DriveWise led the interactive seminar providing instructional material that was supported by practical demonstrations.
Jennifer Chapman from Wheels Leasing Canada demonstrates her abilities while her teammates provide encouragement (and maybe a little bit of taunting)!
While winter driving conditions were being demonstrated, Vip Kaushal from Kal Tire was on hand to talk about the differences in tires and their winter capabilities.
The Eco-Driving Challenge was designed to determine the best eco-driver from each team who were then entered into a drive off; the simulators were set to a scenario that neither had faced.
Laurie Vandervoort from Ontario Public Service Green Office and James Laidlaw from Touch Fleet were the finalists in the Eco-Driving Challenge, with Laidlaw winning in the end. He was presented with a Samsung Tablet by Michael Cole.
Overall it was an excellent event and the Chapter is looking to hold similar seminars in the future.
Special thanks to Ontario Chapter Chair Michael Cole for material in this article.
