Sun Country Highway Partners With ABB On Electric Vehicle Fast Charging Initiative

Sun Country Highway (SCH) - a leader in sustainable transportation - has partnered with ABB, a global leader in power, automation, and electric vehicle charging technology, as part of its expanded mission to green highways across North America.

Part of SCH’s commitment is to speed up electric vehicle (EV) adoption across North America. Through this initiative, its plans include advancing inter-regional economic development while, at the same time, encouraging electric vehicle manufacturers and parts suppliers to ramp up plug-in electric vehicle production in Canada, the United States, and abroad. SCH also aims to further reduce barriers to EV adoption by adding 400 volt direct current charging products from ABB.

Sun Country Highway has already installed hundreds of level two charging stations across Canada, and plans to move forward with 20 or more installations in 2014. Quick charging helps EV owners get farther faster, while at the same time helping to lessen range concerns that future EV drivers may have when deciding whether or not to purchase an electric vehicle.

Sun Country Highway CEO Kent Rathwell was the keynote speaker at NAFA's International Fleet Academy in Tucson, AZ in October, 2013. His presentation discussed new innovations and initiatives in Canada, providing EV charging stations across the country. With this effort, an EV could drive emissions-free and cost-free across the entirety of Canada, coast-to-coast.
