According to the fifteenth annual Global Automotive Executive Survey, plug-in hybrids are poised to come out on top among e-vehicles, to produce cleaner, more efficient vehicles. The Global Automotive Executive Survey is an initiative of KPMG International, and highlights an annual assessment of the current state and future prospects of the automotive industry worldwide.

Key highlights of the survey include:

• Plug-in vehicles are becoming the dominant e-technology. In addition, fuel cell vehicles are experiencing a rise in popularity.
• Internal combustion engines (ICE) remains a top priority for automakers.
• Vehicles use patterns are changing, to accommodate world population growth. For example, mobility solutions such as car sharing are becoming more and more popular.

A KPMG representative highlighted that consumers are indicating their desire for fuel efficiency, safety innovation, comfort, and ergonomics when they are exploring new vehicle purchases. Vehicle manufacturers must remain committed to delivering vehicles that take all these factors into consideration while delivering new technology and innovative mobility solutions.
