NAFA's Ontario Chapter Meeting Raises $25,000 For Children’s Hospital

Michael Cole, NAFA Ontario's Chapter Chair (right), presented a check for $25,000 for the SickKids Hospital in Toronto to Lucas Cohen, who was a surgery patient at the hospital. The Ontario Chapter hosted 155 members and guests at Copper Creek, north of Toronto, on May 29. The event included a round of golf, silent auction, and a 50-50 draw with a prize of $825 that the winner donated to the SickKids Hospital.

Sponsorships were received from 25 companies and the event sold out in less than three weeks.

Cole, the Strategic Team Lead for the Government of Ontario Fleet Management Center, said in his welcome message at the meeting, "At NAFA, we promote fleet management excellence and provide many educational and guidance tools to achieve this.

"But we are more than this. We also take pride in giving back to our communities. This is why, for the second year we are supporting SickKids Hospital which got its start in 1875. A group of women led by Elizabeth McMaster rented an eleven-room house in downtown Toronto for $320 a year, set up six iron cots and declared open a hospital 'for the admission and treatment of all sick children.'

"Fast forward to today and it is due to the generosity of organizations like those listed as sponsors of this event, and to all of you who are participating today that NAFA Ontario Chapter is presenting SickKids Hospital with a $25,000 donation! Your generosity is noticed throughout our industry and is greatly appreciated."
