In 1989, Carl received the Distinguished Service Award, NAFA’s highest form of recognition bestowed upon those with exemplary professional and personal contributions to the industry, society, and/or community. Gene served as Chapter Program Committee Chair (1992-1993) for the Mid-America Chapter. NAFA thanks Gene for thirty years with the Association! It is the strength of our members that have helped make NAFA the strongest association in fleet management today.
After 41 years of career service at the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey, Tom Lubas retired in 2013 and then accelerated his travels worldwide in search of adventures with or without vehicles. As the former Director of the Port Authority’s Operations Services Department, Tom was responsible for several agency activities and divisions, including the Port Authority’s automotive fleet operations. The PA Fleet operations involve approximately 2,500 vehicles with a replacement value in excess of $300 million. This fleet has been ranked for the past several years in the Top 10 of the Best Government Green Fleets in North America. Under Tom’s leadership, the PA Fleet’s carbon footprint was reduced by more than 40 percent and the Fleet is now more than 80 percent "green."
Tom is the current President of the NAFA Foundation, President of the Empire Clean Cities Coalition, and a member of NAFA's Law Enforcement Group. Tom continues to play an active role in NAFA's New York–InterCounty Chapter, is also a lifetime Honorary Member of NAFA Fleet Management Association and a former NAFA Vice President.
NAFA thanks Carl, Gene, and Tom for their years with the Association! It is the strength of our members that have helped make NAFA the strongest association in fleet management today.
