August Proves A Very Good Month For Fleet Vehicle Sales
The recent successes in the automotive industry continue unabated, with commercial fleet showing considerable uptick in August. The sales figures bode well for the industry, even in the face of unprecedented vehicle recalls during the eight months of 2014 thus far. Experts who feared that the continued bad press for the OEMs would cut down sales have been consistently surprised by the industry's resilience and the consumer demand for product.
Fleets added cars, truck, and SUVs to the tune of 21.1 percent over 2013. The increase translates to 7,666 more units sold to commercial fleets than were in the previous year, according to data from Automotive Fleet.
These tally additions reflect growth that has been consistent throughout 2014, with a 6.9 percent increase overall for the eight-month period.
August was also a good month for government fleets which showed sales numbers of over 18,800 units, marking a total sales percentage of 17.7 for the fleet segment.
