About the Speaker - Agile Access Control, Inc. President and Co-founder Ed Smith created and led the development of FleetCommander fleet and motor pool management software. Ed and his team have overseen the implementation of FleetCommander technology to successfully right-size fleets and manage the sharing of thousands of vehicles throughout the U.S., and worldwide, including vehicles in Canada, Central America, Asia, and Africa.

Ed is an expert in fleet right-sizing, with extensive program management and systems engineering experience in the fleet industry. Having led the implementation of dozens of government fleet and motor pool automation projects, he specializes in the analysis of vehicle utilization data for the accurate planning and execution of right-sizing initiatives.

Ed has been a featured speaker at numerous fleet industry events, and has been quoted in Government Fleet magazine and FLEETSolutions magazine on right sizing and other topics. Ed has authored numerous white papers on topics such as lowering costs and managing fleets responsibly, how to run an effortless motor pool, how to understand and put fleet utilization statistics to work, fleet policy communication and enforcement, and managing fleets and motor pools for federal, state, and local governments.

Prior to founding Agile Access Control Inc., Ed spent more than 10 years as a program manager for the FAA’s Enhanced Traffic Management System (ETMS) where he managed metrics-driven automation systems that dramatically reduced air traffic delays. Ed holds a B.S. in Computer Science from University of Maryland and has done graduate work in Technology Systems Management from University of Maryland University College.
