Electric Vehicles In Ottawa

A joint research project led by Pollution Probe, a non-profit environmental organization, and Hydro Ottawa has been released on January 28. This report is part of Pollution Probe’s Electric Mobility Adoption and Prediction (EMAP) initiative, which is funded by the ecoENERGY Innovation Initiative of the Government of Canada.

The report focuses on a detailed market research regarding urban electric vehicles in Ottawa. The city now has a plan to efficiently implement electric vehicle technology according to the needs of the consumers.

"Electric vehicles are no longer the purview of science fiction movies," declared Bryce Conrad, President and Chief Executive Officer of Hydro Ottawa. "They are becoming an increasingly popular choice for automotive consumers looking to reduce their carbon footprint and skip the lines at the local gas stations. Hydro Ottawa is proud to have completed this innovative and in-depth project that will be increasingly valuable as the popularity of these vehicles continues to grow. From the utility's perspective, it lays out a proactive strategy to ensure that Hydro Ottawa continues to be in a position ready to handle the adoption of these new vehicles."

In sum, this is yet another example of how electric vehicles are significantly becoming more prominent in Canada and how they are no longer just a trend and soon to be part of our everyday life.
