NAFA's Nation's Capital Chapter Gets Serious About Vehicle Weight

Have you been to a Nation's Capital Chapter meeting lately? Now is the time take a fresh look at this rising star in NAFA's chapter structure!

Bob Johnson (left) and Dale Collins, CAFM®, lead the discussion on vehicle weight and its impact on efficiency.

On June 10, the chapter convened in Lorton, VA for a day of critical fleet information. The topic of "evaluating vehicle weight" -- one of the most popular sessions from the 2015 Institute & Expo -- was detailed.

Bob Johnson, NTEA Director of Fleet Relations and recent recipient of NAFA's Honorary Membership Award, gave a brief overview of his career/credentials and of the presentation for the day. 39 members and guests took in this chapter meeting. NAFA Affiliate Steve Welch of Equipment Works, asked questions relating to defective heavy trucks and trailers he has encountered, and discussed ways of bringing driver awareness and possibly better enforcement of violators to the fore.

"The presentation was very informative and Bob Johnson had great material," complimented Nation's Capital Chair Dale Collins, CAFM®, Fleet Services Supervisor for Fairfax Water.

After the presentation, attendees were treated to networking and lunch provided by Chik-Fil-A. Collins gave an additional shout-out to Rick Hilmer from Prince George County Fleet for staying on as Chapter Treasurer, as well as manning this session's welcome table, and handling check-in and registration.

Special thanks to Dale Collins for information in this article.
