Whistler Now Plugged Into Electric Vehicle DC Fast Charging Station

The Resort Municipality of Whistler now has a direct current (DC) fast charging station for electric vehicles in operation. The DC fast charging station is located in the municipal underground parking lot at the Whistler Conference Centre.

"Initiatives like this charging station encourage Canadians to turn towards cleaner transportation options, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and help position Canada as a low-carbon economy leader," declared the Jim Carr, Canada's Minister of Natural Resources. "We continue to work with governments, industry, and academia to accelerate the development of clean technologies that deliver real benefits for our environment and our economy."

Whistler’s DC fast charging station was funded through British Columbia’s Clean Energy Vehicle Program and the federal government’s ecoENERGY Innovation Initiative. Whistler was one of a series of communities which were selected to receive this special funding back in 2013.

British Columbia has demonstrated its desire to be become a leader in clean energy and the installment of Whistler’s DC fast charging station is yet another example of its commitment to encourage the use electric vehicles within the province.
