Bylaws Amendment Vote Scheduled for August; Vote Yes

Bylaws Amendment Vote Scheduled for August; Vote Yes

For the past several months, I have been telling you that the NAFA Board of Trustees is considering changes to the association’s bylaws.  I have encouraged you to learn all about these changes, ask questions, and voice your concerns or support.

I am pleased to report the overwhelming majority of feedback has been supportive of the proposed changes.  Literally, of the hundreds of people who have been involved in this conversation, I have received fewer than five negative comments.  Happily, most of negative comments were the results of misunderstanding the proposal and I was able to satisfactorily address the concerns and gain support for the changes.

As a result of the positive feedback, the NAFA Board of Trustees recently decided to take the next in this process, which is to ask the Members to vote on changing the Association’s bylaws.

On August 22, all NAFA Full Members and Associate Members will receive a ballot on which they can vote to approve or disapprove of the proposed changes.  The Board, naturally, recommends the changes be approved, as do I.

If the changes are approved, all NAFA Affiliates and Regional Affiliates will be able to:

In addition, the bylaws revision would:

As with any transition management strategy, there is a great deal of work to be done administratively to implement the types of changes being proposed.  That work is being carefully planned now by the NAFA staff to ensure a smooth and successful transition if the bylaws changes are approved.

If you are a Full Member or Associate Member of NAFA, please look for the ballot in your email on August 22.  I encourage you to vote "yes" on the proposal and return your ballot promptly.

If you are an Affiliate or Regional Affiliate of NAFA, and if the bylaws changes are approved, please look for information about your new membership status in mid-September.

If you still have questions or want to know more about the proposed changes, please see the FAQ document or watch the recorded webinar found on this page: http://www.nafa.org/about-nafa/bylaws-2016/.  You can also send an email to bylaws@nafa.org or call me directly.

Thank you for your support in this important endeavor!  Together we are building a new NAFA, which is very exciting!

Sincerely,

Phil
