On December 7, the New York InterCounty Chapter gathered at Ben and Jack’s Steakhouse in midtown Manhattan to celebrate the holidays, and another year of success. Attendees were treated to a presentation from Kevin Tynan, an automotive analyst from Bloomberg Media. The annual event also featured a raffle to help raise money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

 

The meeting began with a brief presentation by Kathy Wellik, CAFM^®, who spoke of the benefits she and her employer have derived from being involved in NAFA, especially in this ever-changing industry.

 

Kevin Tynan spoke about mobility trends in the automotive industry, especially as they relate to autonomous and electric vehicles. The analysis of where the industry stands today and where it will be in the future is that, while we have predictions about the future, little is certain as to where the industry will be in 10, 20, or even 30 years.  Electric vehicles are increasing in sales, but the main sellers in the automotive market are trucks/SUVs over passenger vehicles which can make the electric vehicle market limited until there are viable options in that category.

 

After a hearty steak lunch, there was a presentation by a representative of the Make-A Wish Foundation along with a raffle.  The New York InterCounty Chapter has raised thousands of dollars for the organization over the years and is glad to be able to help make a seriously ill child’s wish come true while providing respite for their families. Proceeds from the raffle were donated to the local chapter of Make-A-Wish.
