Window Manufacturer Andersen Corp., located in Oak Park Heights, Minn., is known for many things. Its fleet is not one that automatically comes to mind, and certainly not one specific vehicle within it.
“Andersen keeps our collector Buick enrolled in our fleet management company’s programs so that it’s ready to go for parades and special events,” said Fleet and Compliance Manager Mark Hammel.
Originally intended as a sort of showroom on wheels, Andersen’s 1929 Buick was a display vehicle for its window casements, which were attached at the back. According to Anderson Windows’ social media, Fred Andersen, then-president of the company and son of founder Hans Andersen purchased the car in 1930 for a road trip to California. Subsequently, he drove it around the country as a showcase for their products.
It was painted and repurposed in 1932. Today, the vehicle is a symbol of the company’s long history.
