General Motors recently announced that Edward E. Whitacre, Jr. will step down as Chief Executive Officer on September 1, 2010, and as Chairman of the Board by the end of the year. Dan Akerson, 61, who has served on the GM board of directors since July 2009, will become CEO on September 1 and Chairman by the end of the year, ensuring a smooth transition and continued positive momentum for the company.

Since the investigation began Toyota has welcomed the appointment of safety and quality experts to their independent North American Quality Advisory Panel as well as expanded their Product Quality Field Office program, equipped all of their new cars and trucks with more advanced safety technologies, and completed 2,000 vehicle inspections for unintended acceleration complaints with none linked to their electronic throttle control system.

A provision to extend bonus depreciation has been extended in H.R. 5297, known as the "Small Business Jobs Act of 2010." If passed into law, H.R. 5297 will retroactively extend bonus depreciation through calendar-year 2010. In addition, the Environmental Protection Agency has sent a proposal to regulate greenhouse gas emissions from heavy-duty trucks and buses to the White House Office of Management and Budget for review.

As implementation partner for the $1.9 million project, EV Connect will upgrade legacy chargers throughout California, providing adaptations to accommodate existing electric vehicles, while updating charger stations to the new SAE-J1772 standard of new car models. In anticipation of new car models entering the market from companies such as Nissan, Coda Automotive, General Motors, Ford, and Fisker Automotive, among others, work is slated to start in the fall of 2010 and finish by winter of 2011.
