It has been a very busy fall season so far for the Greater Pittsburgh Chapter, with two important and information-packed meetings, the annual Ride 'n Drive (September 20) and the always important safety session (November 1).
36 people, 1 speaker, a great meal. This was the scene for the November 7 NorCal-Northern Nevada Chapter meeting. Chapter members came together, bringing along their CFO’s, HR Managers, and more and prepared to hear a great message about Personal Use Compliance.
On October 30, two dozen Fleet Managers and a dozen Affiliates attended the Chicago Chapter’s mini-NAFA Boot Camp sessions, which are part of NAFA’s Road Show Education Seminars program. Kate Vigneau, CAFM, NAFA’s Professional Development Strategist, presented condensed versions of core competencies found in the NAFA CAFM/S program.
NAFA Fleet Management Association said it applauds the announcement by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to ease the renewable fuel standard (RFS) renewable volume obligations for 2014. This decision alleviates concerns of the Association and fleet managers that the approaching blend wall would result in the mandated use of E-15.

Electric vehicle fast-charging stations have officially opened across British Columbia. With these stations, the province will become the first in Canada to provide electric vehicle drivers with a network of 13 direct current fast-charging stations.

The fleet-only version of the current Chevrolet Impala – the Impala Limited – was meant to be sold only until 2014, when the Oshawa, Ontario production line that builds the sedan will close. But not anymore. General Motors has decided to let the sales of the Impala Limited continue until 2016.
The public display of motor carriers’ safety record will change soon if the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration confirms a proposed new design for the Safety Measurement System website. The planned changes were based on feedback from various stakeholders, including the agency’s Motor Carrier Safety Advisory Committee, which appointed a subcommittee to address the website.
In early-November, the U.S. General Services Administration announced that it's looking for input from car-sharing vendors and industry experts on how it might broadly apply the concept to the government fleet.

NAFA Affiliate Roy Gaysek, President of ARI in Canada, will retire from the company as of March 31, 2014. Under his leadership, ARI grew its client base from 11th in the industry to become the largest fleet management company in Canada. Gaysek joined the fleet management company in 1993 as a Regional Sales Manager.
