Michael Cole, NAFA Ontario's Chapter Chair, presented a check for $25,000 for the SickKids Hospital. The Ontario Chapter hosted 155 members and guests at Copper Creek north of Toronto on May 29. The event included a round of golf, silent auction, and a 50-50 draw with a prize of $825 that the winner donated to the SickKids Hospital.

NAFA's Puget Sound Chapter convened on June 4 to discuss the topic "Natural Gas for Transportation." The focus of the program, attended by 42 Fleet Managers and Affililates, was to learn about the current usage and status of natural gas in transportation. Bill Morgan of Clean Energy helped in giving attendees an overview of what is current in both the United States as a whole, and is specific to the Puget Sound area.

NAFA's Old Dominion Chapter and Virginia Clean Cities are hosting the 2014 Learning Expo and Efficient Technology Symposium, September 24-26, at the Virginia Beach Convention Center. Though wholesale used vehicle prices (on a mix-, mileage-, and seasonally adjusted basis) fell in May, the Manheim Used Vehicle Value Index reading of 124.7 for the month represented a 4.7 percent increase from a year ago. The continued strength in wholesale pricing reflects a strong retail market and only modest increases in wholesale supplies.

A recent study conducted by the Stennis Institute at Mississippi State University found that propane autogas might offer benefits as a fleet fuel versus gasoline and diesel. The study also looked at the challenges fleet managers might encounter when considering autogas.

Governors from eight states signed an agreement on May 29 outlining a strategy for putting more electric vehicles on the roads. The 11-point plan provides a menu of activities each state can choose from to meet the broader goal of putting 3.3 million zero-emission vehicles on American roadways by 2025.

Nationwide Insurance will enter the New Jersey auto market in August 2014. The company received from the New Jersey Department of Banking and Insurance approval to sell automobile insurance in New Jersey. The insurance provider will market these policies over the phone, over the Internet and through Nationwide agents in bordering states.

NAFA International Vice President Joseph LaRosa was in attendance along with Giovanni Tortorici, President of A.I.A.G.A.
