On January 22, the Midwest Chapter held their Annual Business Meeting and Auto Show session, and 31 attendees took part in education and discussions. The hosts for the meeting were the headquarters for the Mattress Factory, and the Century Link Center (501 North 10th Street) where the Omaha Auto Show was held.

Wholesale used vehicle prices (on a mix-, mileage-, and seasonally adjusted basis) increased in January for the fourth consecutive month. This pushed the January Manheim Used Vehicle Value Index to a reading of 125.3, which represented an increase of 2.5 percent from a year ago.

Federal safety regulators are recalling more than 2.12 million vehicles for a defect that may cause air bags to deploy inadvertently — even if they have been repaired for a separate defect that caused as many as six reported deaths from deployments with excessive force in crashes.

The standard mileage rate is used by employers as the amount to reimburse employees who use their personal vehicles on the employer’s behalf. Employers are not required to reimburse business travel expenses to employees in most states. However, most employers consider it fair to do so. Many use the standard mileage rate for the reimbursement amount.

In the case of the German luxury maker, the problem was linked to BMW’s ConnectedDrive system which relies on onboard SIM cards to identify authorized users. The first semi-autonomous vehicles are set to reach showrooms within the next several years, and several automakers are promising they’ll have the first fully-autonomous products on the road by 2020. That timetable might work in some parts of the country. In the late 1950s, Patrick Starr helped form NAFA, and was a major force for the institution of a yearly conference. In early-February a group of Republican and Democratic lawmakers began their second attempt to introduce a bill that would reform the Renewable Fuel Standards (RFS) program in the United States, targeting an end to ethanol fuel-blending mandates.
