It can be very easy to get swept up in the fun and spectacle of the holiday season, and that's a great thing. It's also great to be reminded of those who could really use the help and support, both for now and all year 'round. NAFA's NorCal-Northern Nevada Chapter held their Holiday Luncheon at Ruth Chris Steakhouse in Walnut Creek, CA on December 3. Fifty-three members and guests attended in support of the Bay Area Crisis Nursery with a toy drive and a cash contribution.

An afternoon at the Brazilian steakhouse is not at all a bad way to end the year! And if you add a bit of charitable spirit to the event, it only makes the day that much sweeter. On Tuesday, December 8, NAFA's Mid-America Chapter hosted their annual holiday luncheon at Fogo de Chão, taking in the smells and the tastes, and getting reacquainted with peers.

Low gas prices apparently go hand in hand with consumers buying cars and trucks that drink more fuel. The monthly fuel economy statistics for new U.S. cars continue to drop, with the average miles per gallon rating for new cars purchased in November falling to 25.0 mpg. That's 0.1 mpg lower than the October number, as calculated at UMTRI.

The delegates to the United Nations climate conference in Le Bourget, France, confront a sobering fact: The number of automobiles on the world’s roads is on pace to double — to more than two billion — by the year 2030. And more likely than not, most of those cars will be burning carbon-emitting gasoline or diesel fuels. That’s because much of the expansion will be propelled by the rise of the consumer class in industrializing parts of the globe, especially in China and India, as hundreds of millions of new drivers discover the glory of the open road.
