The Board of Directors of NAFA, operating under new bylaws and election procedures adopted in 2016, recently elected the first slate of Officers under its new guidelines. The new rules saw four new Directors elected to the Board in January, joining nine Directors whose terms were continuing. Then, in February, the full Board of 13 Directors elected from among themselves NAFA’s new President, Senior Vice President, Vice President, and Secretary/Treasurer.

The province of Ontario is expanding its electric vehicle (EV) rebate program, aimed at incentivizing buyers of EVs with cash subsidies for low and zero-emission vehicles. Until now, the program was capped for relatively pricey vehicles, with the maximum benefit set at $3,000 for vehicles with an MSRP above $75,000.

A contingent of vehicle owners, victims, and their families claim five automakers using faulty airbags are every bit as culpable as airbag manufacturer Takata. As stated through their attorneys, they believe the automakers knew the airbags were defective, but continued to use them anyway to save money.

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles is set to recall nearly 75,000 vehicles because of potential powertrain problems. The vehicles affected are the Dodge Charger and the Chrysler 300, both from the 2014-17 model years. The cars in question are equipped with all-wheel drive and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says they are subject to recall because the bolts on the cars' front driveshafts were not manufactured properly.

According to a new study by the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety, more than half of drivers in every age group have texted behind the wheel, run a red light, or driven faster than the speed limit in the last 30 days.

The recently released Global Traffic Scorecard from INRIX, a leader in transportation analytics and connected car services, has named Los Angeles as the metropolitan area in the U.S. with the worst traffic congestion. New York and San Francisco came in second and third respectively. The study also indicated that severe traffic congestion in such cities is costing drivers around $1,200 annually.

Self-driving vehicles could soon be making their way around the busy streets of Atlanta. Georgia's capital city is just one of several cities vying for autonomous vehicle testing. If current plans come together, Atlanta would become one of the largest urban areas where the technology is being tested. A demonstration could come together as early as September.
