The U.S. government is investigating complaints that air bag control computers in some Jeep Liberty SUVs can fail, preventing the air bag system from operating properly in a crash. The probe covers about 105,000 of the vehicles from the 2012 model year.

While Ford Motor Company's North American plants normally shut down for two weeks in July, the automaker has announced that it will be keeping its SUV manufacturing plant in Kentucky open for an extra week this summer. The company’s unique solution to the 3D mapping problem is partnering with delivery fleets to collect its data. Toyota has revealed that it had sold off all of its remaining shares in Tesla Inc., the Silicon Valley-based battery-electric automaker, ending what had once been seen as a promising tie-up.
