Wholesale used vehicle prices (on a mix-, mileage-, and seasonally adjusted basis) increased 1.51 percent month-over-month in July. This brought the Manheim Used Vehicle Value Index to 136.9, which was a 5.1 percent increase from a year ago and the highest level ever for the series.

Dave Schiller, CAFM, Fleet and Materials Manager with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (MNDNR), has retired after 43 years with the agency, 20 of which were as fleet manager. Schiller joined MNDNR in 1975, first working with the Forestry Division, then in State Parks. He became the Field Service Operations Manager (a combined fleet and facilities role) in 1992, and finally the Fleet Manager in 2002.

On July 26, 2018, Acting Administrator of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Andrew Wheeler, announced that the agency would withdraw a decision to lift strict sales limits on the number of trucks built with glider kits produced annually.

The U.S. administration announced intentions to revise downward its CAFE standards after the current round expires in 2021. For the 2022-2025 model years, the previously-agreed upon fuel economy regulations for light vehicles may be reviewed by the American government. This has serious implications for Canada, which agreed to the initial stringent fuel economy rules with an understanding that industry harmonization was crucial.
