The City of Stamford was concerned about high fleet costs and lack of metrics to understand vehicle usage and requirements. By relying on fleet technology to help them to efficiently share vehicles, automate maintenance schedules, and collect fleet data to reduce underutilized vehicles, the City stands to save $1 million over five years.
Fleet Manager Mike Scacco will discuss the challenges the City faced before implementing technology, offering details about the steps he took to take the city from having too many underutilized vehicles to saving $1 million. Representatives from Agile Fleet will also take part in the session to offer information regarding the fleet technology in place at the City and how they put it to use to improve efficiency and slash costs.

Wholesale used vehicle prices (on a mix-, mileage-, and seasonally adjusted basis) decreased 1.03 percent month-over-month in December. This brought the Manheim Used Vehicle Value Index to 137.6, a 4.3 percent increase from a year ago.

One of NYPD’s most important and effective vehicles is the military-grade BEAR (Ballistic Engineered Armored Response) truck. The BEAR is a unique vehicle for uses ranging from rescue to counter-terrorism. In the news: The ongoing closure of nearly a quarter of the government is now the longest in U.S. history. Negotiations between the Administration and Congress have shown little to no signs of progress. The National Transportation Safety Board has been unable to work on thousands of ongoing safety investigations or begin new investigations during the lapse in federal funding.
While the government shutdown impacts the U.S. DOT, FMCSA and FHWA have not yet needed to furlough any employees.
The EPA maintains that it is still expecting to have a final rule to expand the sale of E15 gasoline to summer months ready before the summer driving season begins.

Last year was the second-best year for automotive sales on record. Canada’s confidence in the auto sector is high and Canadians are continuing to purchase new, more technologically advanced and environmentally friendly vehicles at a record rate.
