First of all, I want to extend a great big "thank you" if you are attending the 2019 Institute & Expo with us today through Wednesday in Louisville, Kentucky! If you couldn't make it, I hope you'll follow along with NAFA's communications throughout the week as we report on the phenomenal events we have happening over these three days.

NAFA Fleet Management Association is collaborating with the Nevada Governor's Office of Economic Development to help them establish Fleetworks, an industry focused technology accelerator designed to source, accelerate and validate solutions for future fleet management and operations. With the advent of the sharing economy and the development of mobility-as-a-service business models, vehicle ownership is quickly moving more towards vehicle usership. As a result, our relationship with transportation is changing from one where we identify with particular vehicle(s), brands or even dealerships to a relationship with software platforms, networks, and fleets.

How will you embrace the future? Today after lunch, at the all-new Institute & Expo, join your NAFA peers for an informative keynote presentation from Chris Riddell. An award-winning Global Futurist and industry recognized keynote speaker on the future of humanity and digital life, Riddell is also a renowned media commentator and global emerging trend spotter for businesses and leaders in today’s highly disrupted world.
|
Returning once again to I&E is the Fleet Management Executive Panel, this Wednesday. The session will afford attendees at NAFA’s Institute & Expo the opportunity to hear directly from the leaders of major fleet management companies as they discuss what they see coming in the near future with regard to mobility, procurement, sourcing, inventory, sustainability, global expansion, and much more!
|
Are you ready for the mobility revolution? It's coming, so be ready for it with a full day of mobility-related education and workshops this Wednesday at NAFA's Institute & Expo.

Wholesale used vehicle prices (on a mix-, mileage-, and seasonally adjusted basis) increased 0.58 percent month-over-month in March. This brought the Manheim Used Vehicle Value Index to 136.0, a 4.0 percent increase from a year ago.

Representative Peter Welch and Senator Jeff Merkley introduced the Electric CARS Act of 2019 on April 2. The legislation would remove the 200,000 per manufacturer vehicle cap on the new electric vehicle tax credit and extends the incentive until 2029.
On Friday, April 5, President Trump said that 25 percent tariffs on automobiles made in Mexico could be imposed if the country does not continue to help reduce the number of illegal border crossings on the U.S. southern border.
Sens. Ed Markey, Diane Feinstein, and Kamala Harris introduced a bill to block the EPA and the National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration from rolling back the 2012 fuel economy and vehicle greenhouse gas emissions standards rule.
Members of the relevant House and Senate Committees from both sides of the political aisle have been in recent talks over what path forward to take on autonomous vehicle legislation.
|
Recent reports have suggested that the Trump Administration could impose auto tariffs upon Mexico by spring 2019. The U.S. website Politico published that the White House has been reviewing the U.S. Commerce Department's auto tariff document since February. This is believed to offer a justification for national security grounds for the imposition of tariffs on foreign cars in the U.S.
