NAFA announced the winners for the Association’s 2019 Fleet Excellence Awards (FLEXYs), the top honors in the fleet and mobility industry. This year's winners participated in a panel discussion during NAFA's 2019 Institute & Expo, describing their processes for achievement within their fleets. The 2019 FLEXY winners are Mario Guzman, CAFM®, Director of Support Services, City of West Palm Beach, Fla.; and Robert Stine, CAFM, Director-Fleet Management Department, Hillsborough County, Fla.; in Excellence in Public Fleet or Mobility Management. Additionally, Dave Dahn, CAFM, Corporate Fleet Program Manager, Erie Insurance Group; and Jodi Weber, Americas Fleet Manager, Johnson Controls International; won FLEXYs for Excellence in Corporate/Private Fleet or Mobility Management.

President Trump announced his decision to delay tariffs on automobiles and auto parts imported from Europe and Japan for six months on May 17, 2019.
On May 10, 2019, U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer announced an increase of duties to 25% from 10% on approximately $200 billion worth of Chinese imports.
On May 21, 2019, Earl Blumenauer (D-Ore.) introduced the Rebuild America Act of 2019 (H.R. 2864), to increase the federal motor fuels tax by five cents a year starting in 2020.
On May 22, 2019, the House Appropriations Committee approved the Interior-Environment funding bill for FY 2020.
Senator Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) is calling on the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) to add safety reforms for limousines to its “Most Wanted List” of top safety improvements.

On May 17, the United States officially lifted the steel and aluminum tariffs it imposed on Canada and Mexico, putting an end to the disruption that impacted the integrated North American supply chain for nearly a year. Canada has, in turn, lifted its countermeasure tariffs on carefully selected American goods. The automotive industry has been particularly affected by these tariffs as steel and aluminum are key to vehicle production.
