NAFA releases an analysis of its recent Alternative Fuels Survey in its November/December 2017 issue of FLEETSolutions magazine. The report finds significant shifts in direction, as well as stubborn trends, in comparison with a similar survey conducted in 2014. The article, "Fleets Remain Mixed On Alternative Fuels Benefits," offers insights from the survey conducted in June, with data that was analyzed by NAFA’s Education Development Committee.

Remarketing Strategy
Wholesale used vehicle prices (on a mix-, mileage-, and seasonally adjusted basis) increased 1.02 percent month-over-month in October. This brought the Manheim Used Vehicle Value Index to 136.3, which was a record high for the sixth consecutive month and an 8.1 percent increase from a year ago. On a year-over-year basis, all major market segments saw gains, including midsize cars. Luxury cars, pickups, and vans outperformed the overall market.

The date for an eventual Canadian Electronic Logging Device (ELD) mandate has been delayed until spring 2018 at the earliest. The United States is on track to implement the American ELD mandate on December 18. Transport Canada’s assessment continues to be that ELDs can "increase the accuracy of tracking driving hours, in an attempt to ensure that allowable driving hours are not exceeded and reduce the administrative burden and driver time associated with filling out paper logbooks."

Las Vegas Valley Water District (Nev.), led by Fleet Services Manager James Morwood, a NAFA Regular Member, earned the number one ranking in the 2017 edition of The Green Fleet Awards competition developed by independent fleet strategist Tom C. Johnson, founder of the 100 Best Fleets awards program. The Green Fleet Awards were announced during the Sustainable Fleet Technology Conference in October.
