Legislative News
In the news: Congress begins hearings on new infrastructure legislation. NTSB releases "Most Wanted" list of vehicle safety enhancements it beilieves can reduce roadway deaths. NAFA members urge congressional tax committees to renew legislation that would reinstate alternative fuel tax credits. There is an uncertain outlook on the EV tax credit, in favor of a user registration fee for alternative fuel vehicles. NAFA participates in congressional briefing on vehicle data access hosted by the U.S. Vehicle Data Access Coalition. House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee chief calls for end to gridlock, bipartisan action on finding infrastructure solutions.

In the news: The change of landscape in the U.S. Congress is making the path to ratification of the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA), the replacement for NAFTA, unclear. As of January 1, 2019, Ontario drivers face harsher penalties for distracted driving. The provincial government introduced the new rules in a bid to improve road safety.
