The Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is proposing a rule that, if finalized, would establish the nation’s first-ever federal safety standard addressing excessive heat in the workplace. U.S. Rep. Mike Collins (R-Ga.) visited Construction Partners Inc.’s Auburn, Georgia asphalt plant and also stopped by a roadside job site as part of a tour of the Sunbelt Asphalt Surfaces, Inc. facilities. NAPA 2024 Midyear Meeting attendees can opt-in to seven activities from Broadway to the Bronx as part of their New York City experience.
NAPA welcomes Owens Corning to The Road Forward, an industry-wide vision for sustainable communities and commerce. New for 2024, NAPA is offering additional opportunities to support the industry-wide effort. The new tiered program invites all stakeholders to the table to collectively propel the vision toward net zero. The annual enrollment period is open through Aug. 30.
NAPA joins friends and family in mourning the loss of Bill Kennedy, owner of Rock Road Companies in Wisconsin. Kennedy was an active member of the Wisconsin Asphalt Pavement Association (WAPA) for more than 50 years, and WAPA Executive Director Deb Schwerman said he was "instrumental in helping to shape the asphalt industry locally and across the country."
Heat illness prevention is becoming even more of a priority for asphalt pavement contractors across the country due to warmer temperatures and legislation that seeks to keep workers hydrated.
