When the asphalt pavement industry’s emerging leaders gather in Washington, D.C., for the IMPACT Leadership Group Conference Sept. 24-25, they won’t be the only road construction-minded visitors to the nation’s capital.

Asphalt Pavement Alliance (APA) Technical Director Buzz Powell will examine the National Center for Asphalt Technology (NCAT) Test Track’s eight research cycles so far in a presentation on his white paper titled “A Historical Overview of the Diverse Perpetual Pavements on the NCAT Pavement Test Track,” during the conference. NAPA members and research partners helped contribute to a new report released by TRB called "Day-to-Day Practices to Reduce the Carbon Footprint of Asphalt."

The NAPA IMPACT Leadership Group has new opportunities for emerging leaders in the asphalt pavement industry.
Those seeking to hold a position are required to fill out a nomination form by Aug. 30. Those elected will serve Jan. 1, 2025, through Dec. 31, 2026, in one of 21 vacant member positions.
The International Conference on the Decarbonization of Asphalt Pavements will be held Sept. 29 to Oct. 1, 2025, in Chicago. Researchers, practitioners, policymakers, and industry experts are invited to submit abstracts by Nov. 1.
