![]() ![]() This year NAPA has joined with the American Traffic Safety Services Association (ATSSA) and other stakeholders to extend work zone awareness into the policy space, taking messaging on work zone contingency funds directly to the lawmakers who will write the next highway bill. Tuesday, April 22: National Kickoff Event in Raleigh, North Carolina
NWZAW kicked off officially with an in-person event this morning at the N.C. State Fairgrounds, hosted by the North Carolina DOT.
Wednesday, April 23: Go Orange Day Thursday, April 24: Social Media Storm
NAPA members and stakeholders will take to cyberspace to flood social media with messaging centered on work zone safety awareness. Check out the Watch For Us toolkit for graphics and sample text. Use hashtags like #WatchForUs and #NWZAW to join the online conversation and amplify other posts by sharing them with your networks.
Friday, April 25: Moment of Silence
Since 2022, NWZAW has concluded with a day dedicated to the people who have lost their lives in work zone incidents in the past. Companies and families are encouraged to join together for a moment of silence and reflection as a tribute.

The latest episode of Pave It Black marks National Work Zone Awareness Week with an in-depth look at how awareness, advocacy, and innovation are creating safer job sites for road workers.
First, Richard and Brett talk with Mitch Baldwin, NAPA's Director of Government Affairs, and Cameron Greene, the Vice President of Government Relations for the American Traffic Safety Services Association (ATSSA). Next, the podcast spotlights N.B. West Contracting, winner of NAPA’s 2024 Asphalt Operations Safety Innovations Award for its development of a custom-engineered safety cage designed to protect paver operators.
Kentucky will host the NAPA 2025 Midyear Meeting this summer, bringing asphalt pavement industry leaders to Louisville for four days of networking, discussing challenges, and planning for the future.

The TCC Fly-In is set for May 7-8 at the Hilton Washington DC National Mall The Wharf. "With a new presidential administration, more than 70 new members of Congress, and the reauthorization of highway and public transportation programs on the agenda, the transportation construction industry must engage Congress to ensure recent investments in roads, bridges and public transportation systems can continue," according to the Transportation Construction Coalition (TCC) website.

NAPA is working with the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) to determine the amount of hot-mix asphalt (HMA), warm-mix asphalt (WMA), and recycled materials being produced and used in each state.
Asphalt Mix Producers are encouraged to help NAPA gather 2024 construction season data by completing these surveys by June 2.
Agencies across 16 U.S. states earned honors for long-life asphalt pavements that deliver sustainable performance. Awarded annually by the Asphalt Pavement Alliance (APA), the 2024 Perpetual Pavement Awards recognize 27 unique projects, including a segment of historic Route 66.
