Time to renew and recharge

By Geof Brown, NAPFA CEO

Summer offers much-needed space to renew, reflect, and refocus for the year ahead. We spend time creating, reviewing, planning, and improving upon what we’ve done in the past. During the summer at NAPFA, we focus on those items and engage in the “think time” that is critical to keeping us fresh. We also take a little time to relax and restore the all-important work-life balance.

Summer Leadership Meeting

This summer we’ve also spent considerable time with volunteer leaders preparing for the upcoming fiscal year. Our time with them mainly focused on the annual Summer Leadership Meeting that took place in June. This meeting helps to ensure alignment between the different components of NAPFA. Members of the NAPFA Board of Directors, regional boards, NAPFA Genesis, and the chairs of major committees join us in Chicago for several days, when we discuss our future priorities and our shared responsibilities for achieving our objectives.

This meeting is one of the most beneficial and important annual gatherings of NAPFA volunteers. The discussions help us make decisions that ensure our ability to create a valuable member experience. Personally, I always leave that meeting recharged and ready for the coming year. I also know that we’ve invested the time to ensure that key volunteer leaders have a thorough understanding of their roles in achieving the objectives for the coming year. The next time you encounter a participant in the Summer Leadership Meeting, please thank them for investing that time on your behalf.

Thank you, volunteers!

Please join me in thanking all 2021–22 volunteers for their gifts of time, talent, and treasure! Volunteers are the lifeblood of any professional membership association, and NAPFA is no different. These committed individuals put in extra time to ensure that their peers have a valuable professional experience as part of their membership. They have also taken on the added responsibility of helping create compelling experiences for each of you. If you are not currently a volunteer, please consider doing so in the future. We have big plans for the coming year and your involvement would be appreciated.
